PROJECT: Housing for Homeless and Refugee Families

SUMMARY: A new build provision of 8 self-contained flats, ranging in size from 1 to 4 bedrooms. One flat is designed to full wheelchair specific standards and in addition to residential accommodation, the building provides office and meeting room spaces and an outdoor play area. In order to meet significant planning concerns within this Conservation Area location, accommodation was split between two buildings, each in scale with its immediate neighbours, connected by a green-roofed link and access space.

SERVICES: Full architectural services from inception to planning consent for ECHG. All construction drawings for the contractor at post-contract stage.

Pre-planning services included very extensive consultation with a (initially hostile) local community as well as local politicians and other community leaders.
