PROJECT: Housing for Homeless and Refugee Families

SUMMARY: A new build re-provision project, replacing an outdated and inadequate Victorian house-conversion with 16 self-contained apartments, ranging in size from 1 to 4 bedrooms. In addition to family accommodation, the building provides for offices, a crèche and meeting rooms, together with secure outdoor play/amenity spaces. The building also achieved very high thermal performance standards and was constructed using off-site fabrication systems. Two units are designed to full wheelchair-useability standards.

SERVICES: Full architectural services from inception to planning consent for ECHG. All construction drawings for the contractor at post-contract stage.

Pre-planning services included very extensive consultation with the (initially hostile) local community as well as local politicians and other community leaders.
